CPI-M
Kolkata, Feb 2: The Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist- Liberation) today demanded immediate withdrawal of the Congress-led UPA government's liberalisation policy in foreign investment.

Talking to newspersons here, CPI(ML)-Liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said the UPA government had unilaterally liberalised the Foreign Direct Investment(FDI) policy in key sectors like civil aviation, mining, real estate and finance. Such a liberalised policy would invite greater foreign control and make the country's economy more vulberable to financial turmoil, glimpses of which had already been witnessed in the huge share market fall in January last.

The UPA government at the Centre should withdraw all these measures of liberalisation in foreign investment, he demanded.

He said the Indo-US Nuclear deal agreement was the most dangerous and would enable the US to use Indian facilites and military service to promote its ongoing global war campaign.

He also said the US Ambassador in India had already indicated that these treaties would be taken up for active consideration during the coming February visit of US Defence Secretary Robert Gates.

'' We would organise countrywide protests when the talks would be held with Mr Gates in this regard, '' he added.
