PSPB emerges as undisputed champions

Siliguri, Feb 2 (UNI) The Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) emerged as the undisputed champions as they swept all the events in the Senior National Table Tennis championships here today.

In the men's singles final, Achanta Sharath Kamal thrashed Sourav Chakraborty of Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) 4-1 while in the women's singles final, Poulomi Ghatak downed Anindita Chakraborty (RSPB) by an identical margin.

In the men's doubles, Kamal teamed up with Subhajit Saha to demolish their opponents Sourav Chakraborty and Anirban Nandi of the RSPB 4-1. The railwaymen failed to put up any resistance and went down tamely.

In the women's doubles, Mouma Das of Poulomi Ghatak defeat Susmita Ray and Mousumi Paul of West Bengal 4-3 in a thrilling encounter.

It was an all-PSPB affair in the final as Sharath Kamal and Poulomi Ghatak got the better of Subhajit Saha and Nandita Saha 4-1.

MeSEB Leshka project to prop up power scene in Meghalaya

Shillong, Feb 3 (UNI) With the commissioning of the 126-Mw Myntdu Leshka hydroelectric project, the current power crisis in Meghalaya could be over by next year, the Meghalaya State Electricity Board (MeSEB) sources said. ''The coming up of industries at Byrnihat and other places of the state had changed the power scene in Meghalaya from that of surplus to starving,'' and the completion of the new project would bring in relief to the power-starved state,.....

Kumbhar, Dimple bag honours in Federation Cup Cross Country

Nagpur, Feb 3 (UNI) Ashok Kumbhar and Dimple Naidu, both of Maharashtra, won in the men's and women's sections respectively in the 4-km run on the second and last day of the 13th Federation Cup National Cross Country championship here today. Kumbhar clocked 12:16 to emerge the winner, while Dimple did likewise with a timing of 15:29 in the event hosted by Nagpur District Athletic Association under the aegis of Maharashtra Amateur Athletic Association (MAAA)......

Govt to encourage pvt industrial trainning centres

Patna, Feb 03 (UNI) Bihar government has decided to encourage the private investors to set up industrial training centres in the state. Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who also holds the portfolio of Labour Resource department, today said the government is committed to providing better empolyment avenues to the youths. He also informed that at least 15 industrial trainning centres were set up last year and the government had granted permission to 50 more such.....
