First of its kind SMS service for information

Hyderabad, Feb 2 (UNI) For the first time in the country, Central Information Commissioner M M Ansari today introduced a short messaging service(SMS) for those seeking information from various government departments under Right to Information Act.

By messaging to 9989651152, a complainant can immediately know the status of the complaint through return SMS through the system introduced by the State Information Commission, its Chief Information Commissioner C D Arha told reporters.

Earlier, the Chief Information Commissioners of various states met under Mr Rajan Kashyap, Punjab CIC and Convenor of the National Committee for finalising amendments to the Right to Information Act, for improving the system of providing information from various departments to information seekers.

The Committee decided to recommend the creation of national level resource centre for better coordination and take further support from the Centre for good governace for scientific management of all records, Mr Kashyap said.
