Budget Session commencing on Feb 11 should be taken seriously: CM

Hyderabad, Feb 2 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy asked his Cabinet colleagues and other senior officials concerned to take the Budget Session of the Assembly and Council, beginning on February 11, very seriously since it was being held almost a year before the polls.

Dr Reddy discussed with Ministers, Secretaries and senior Government officials at secretariat today, about the business of both the Houses during the Budget Session which would begin on February 11 and conclude on March 27.

All the Ministers and senior officials should be present in the city during the Budget Session, the Chief Minister gave a clarion call.

The Chief minister said ''all of us should be thoroughly prepared in advance to answer all the questions and issues that will be raised by the Opposition from time to time.'' Dr Reddy was particular that all the questions raised during zero hour should invariably be answered and sent to the respective member immediately within three to four days with a copy to the Speaker as per the procedure.

He cautioned the officials to ensure error free translations and ensure that the figures provided in the information should be correct and authentic. He wanted them to enlist all the subjects dealt by each department, prepare necessary notes well in advance and keep every Minister informed. He also wanted to identify and nominate the nodel officers of each department to look after exclusively the Assembly matters.

Legislative Affairs and Finance Minister K Rosaiah, who also exhorted the Ministers and officials on the importance of the Budget Session, said answers for the starred and unstarred questions and other issues should be prepared well in advance. There were four ordinances to be replaced by Bills and four more new Bills were likely to be introduced during the Session.

He said the Budget would be presented on Feb 16.
