Mumbai, Jan 28: Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit said she has been humbled by the honour of a Padmashri award and the announcement came as a wonderful surprise to her.

In a statement from Denver, US, where she is settled after marriage, Madhuri said, ''I wish to thank all the individuals, who have contributed to my success through the years, and the award is a reflection of their efforts.'' ''I wish to thank the Government of India for considering me worthy of this honour, as well as thank patrons of arts and cinema around the world. I am deeply indebted to my motherland for having given me this opportunity,'' she added.

We should be ashamed that we have no say in who should be getting Padam shri or could not prevent such stupid people being awarded such highly ranked Indian award. Why is Madhuri Dixit awarded with Padamshri for dancing in "choli ke piche kya hai" or giving half naked shots in movies like Dayawan? She did not bring any honor to our country on the contrary is disgust and shame to our culture. Did what ever would earn her more movies and money. Instead of awarding people of her character with such high reward, we should award and recognize people from other spheres eg. Science etc, who work so hard all their life at such a low govt salary.
