Lucknow, Jan 27: As many as five people died of biting cold in the last 24 hrs even as Uttar Pradesh continued to reel under intense cold wave conditions with temperature being recorded at zero degree Celsius today at Saharanpur.
In Siddharthnagar, two persons died of cold, whereas severe cold in Sant Kabirnagar, Sonbhadra and Moradabad claimed one life each.
Following snowfall in the mountanious regions of Uttarakhand, a sudden drop in temperature was recorded, including zero degree Celsius at Sarsanva area of Saharanpur.
According to weather department, Faizabad, Kanpur and Gorakhpur division witnessed remarkably low night temperature.
Meanwhile, Agra, Bareilly, Jhansi and Meerut divisions also registered temperature below normal.However, people here welcomed the bright and sunny morning.
