UP (blue), Cheema Academy qualify for next round

Lucknow, Jan 27 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh (Blue) and Cheema Academy Punjab teams have qualified for the next round of the 19th All India K D Singh Babu Sub Junior Invitaiton Hockey Tournament, being played at the Dhyan Chand stadium here.

In the league matches of the tournament today, Cheema Academy and Uttar Pradesh (blue) thrashed Assam and Gujarat respectively with identical margins of 14-0, the other match between Haryana(Shahabad) and Tamil Nadu remained a draw with both sides failing to make any headway.

In the match between Cheema Academy and Assam, the formers attacked their rival from the very first minute of the game with Sukhdeep Singh, compeleting his hat-trick, stricking four goals in a row within 10 minutes forcing Assam team to remain in their shell.

Taking the advantage, Palwinder Singh(3) Bhupinder (3) added more miseries to the Assam team. At half time the winners were leading by 8-0.

In the other match UP (Blue) beat Gujarat 14-0. Skipper Mohit Kumar (5) scored maxium goals.

The encounter between Haryana (Shahabad) and Tamil Nadu ended on a goallers draw. Though both the teams got golden chances to take lead through penalty corners but both failed.

Teams of Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai from Pool 'A', Orrisa and Haryana (Bhiwani) from Pool'C' had already reached into the quarter final stages of the tournament.

BJD to announce its seat-sharing proposals today

New Delhi, Mar 25 (ANI): The Naveen patnaik-led Biju Janata Dal (BJD) will announce the seat-sharing arrangement with its new allies, the Communist Part of India (CPI), The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Wednesday for the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in Orissa."The joint candidate list will be published tomorrow," senior BJD MP Pyari Mohan Mohapatra told.....
