Safran, GE JV seek Indian partner

New Delhi, Jan 27: CFM International in a joint venture with French conglomerate Safran and General Electric, said it is looking for an Indian partner to set up a maintenance facility for turbo fan engines.

''We are still discussing with partners, private companies involved in aviation,'' Vice President CFM India unit, Paul Andre Chevrin said. A total of 250 CFM56 are operated by the airlines of India currently and almost 350 are on order. In the military aircraft sector, Safran is bidding to be the foreign partner for the co-development and co-production of the LCA Tejas Kaveri engine. This state-of-the-art engine will be co-developed with Indian research organisation and industry partners, with a full transfer of technology.

Safran has also partnered with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), to manufacture Shakti engine powering HAL Dhruv helicopter and has been certified by the European Agency EASA.

India signs MoA with US on aviation related issues

New Delhi, Dec 12: India has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MAO) with the Federal Aviation Authority of the United States to pave way for technical assistance on host of aviation related matter, Rajya Sabha was informed today. Answering to the questions of Mr Rajiv Shukla (Congress), Shobhana Bhartiya (Independent) and Vijay Darda (Congress), Minister of State for Civil Aviation Praful Patel said the main features of the agreement included providing technical and managerial expertise.....
