One killed, 4 injured in road mishap in Punjab

Moga, Jan 27: An aged woman was killed and her four relatives were injured when the car in which they were travelling was hit by a canter on Moga-bypass last night, police today stated.

According to the police, the canter moving at high speed hit the car from the rear. The car went off the road and slammed into a tree leading to the death of a 63-year old woman and injuries to four others.

The injured were admitted to the civil hospital here. The canter driver fled the scene of the accident and the police after inquiries registered a case against him.

New Delhi, Feb 27: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said the defeat of the Congress in the assembly polls in Punjab and Uttarakhand would have no bearing on the Centre as it was not a ''referendum'' against the UPA.''I am not saying there is no fallout.
