Life returns to normal in Kashmir after strike, tension

Srinagar, Jan 27: Life returned to normal today after a strike yesterday on a call given by separatist and militant organisations on Republic Day.

Additional security forces deployed in the city and other areas for the past three days to foil any militant attempt to disrupt the functions were also withdrawan.

However, security force Road Opening Parties (ROP), guarding the important routes, including historic Lal Chowk, remained deployed to thwart any attempt by militants to disturb peace.

A number of shops in the civil lines, particuarly those selling eatables and vegetables reopened this morning. Traffic on all routes was normal. It was total shut down yesterday and traffic was also off the roads. People remained indoor, because of unprecedented security arrangments. However, many people visited ski resort of Gulmarg and Pahalgam because of tension in the city.

India, Pak Auditors General discuss cooperation

New Delhi, Mar 13: India and Pakistan today agreed to strengthen cooperation between the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) of the two countries in areas of public audit and accounts. Pakistan's Auditor General Mohammed Yunis Khan, currently on a five-day visit o India, met Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) Vijayendra Kaul and discussed with him ways to strengthen cooperation between the SAIs of the two countries. Mr Khan who arrived here yesterday, also met senior officials.....
