FB secretariat member resigns, becomes CPI(M) candidate

Agartala, Jan 27: The Tripura Forward Bloc (FB) secretariat member Sudhir Chandra Majumdar has resigned from the party following a rift within the Left Front on seat sharing between FB and CPI(M) for the February 23 Assembly polls.

However, the FB state secretary Shyamal Roy said that it would neither affect their party politics nor its electoral prospect. Meanwhile, the CPI(M) sources have indicated that Mr Majumder would be contesting for the party from Bardowali constituency.

The Front had allocated the seat for Forward Bloc since 1978 but this time it was denied the seat. He further said, the Forward Bloc, an ally of the ruling front has sidelined itself from the Left unity avoiding the unethical demand for seat sharing. Meanwhile, FB has stated that it would contest from in 15 constituencies in the coming polls.
