BJP Mahila Morcha to launch series of agitations

Thane, Jan 27 (UNI) The State Executive of the BJP Mahila Morcha has announced that it would launch a series of agitations through out the state in the coming months to protest against the present Congress-NCP Government's failure to deliver goods.

This was announced here today by the Morcha Chief Manisha Choudhary, who returned from the state meet at Akola.

She said the meet which was attended by over 300 office-bearers of the Morcha discussed threadbear the present situation in the state, particularly that of the women and senior citizens and decided its action plan.

The issues that were discussed were atrocities on women, including murder, rape, molestation and dowry deaths which is on a rise in the state.

The issues of price rise, scarcity of water, poor health facilities and lack of educational facilities were also discussed in the meeting.

The suicide by farmers was another issue which received prominence in the meeting and the issue of allotting stalls to the Mahila''bachat ghat'' for the rehabilitation of the women's group were also discussed.

Ms Chowdhary said the most important issue that was discussed was related to the water shortage in the Thane district which receives nearly forty per cent less water than required and the situation may become even worse in the summer season.

She said a delegation of the ''morcha'' would soon meet the water minister Ajit Pawar to seek for a solution.

The meeting also decided to organise ''morchas'' and ''dharnas'' at the district headquarters and also ''taluka'' headquarters for mass awakening and educating them regarding the failure of the Congress led government.

The issue of the widows of the fishermen, lost in the seas was also discussed and it was decided that the party would go in for proper rehabilitation of such widows in the district.

Meanwhile, addressing a news conference here today, the BJP MLC of Konkan Graduates Constituency Sanjay Kelkar and Thane Region chief of the BJP Jagannath Patil today declared that the party will organise two ''morchas'' one for the rural at Jawhar on February 25, 2008 and the other for the urban at Kalyan on March 5, 2008, to highlight the failure of the present Congress government on all fronts.
