Bhaichung's state club ecstatic over Padmashree award

Gangtok, Jan 27 (UNI) United Sikkim Sporting Club(USSC) has extended their congratulations to the club's chief patron Bhaichung Bhutia for receiving the Padmashree award, the country's third highest civilian award.

''We are proud that he was recognised for his distinguished career and contribution to the game in the country,'' said USSC in a press statement.

With this distinction, Bhutia has once again brought laurel and glory to Sikkim, after having bagged the Arjuna Award, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award and numerous other laurels, the club said.

Despite his hectic schedule, Bhutia has always guided the club and has given his hundred per cent for the development of football in Sikkim, USSC added.

Girls more resilient than boys in troubled households

Washington, Feb 12 (ANI): Girls growing up in troubled families are four times more resilient than boys in overcoming such adverse experiences, according to a new study.The researchers found that 70 percent of the children were exposed to two or more of adverse events such as having a heroin-addicted parent, these experiences include family mental illness, having a parent jailed, family violence, being a victim of abuse and having a parent die, and girls were more resilient than boys in.....
