Anbazhagan demands resignation of Puducherry CM

Puducherry, Jan 27: The AIADMK State Secretary A Anbazhagan MLA today demanded the resignation of Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy in the wake of the revolt by the Ministers against him.

Adressing a press conference here, he said that the Cabinet colleagues of Rangasamy were agitating aganist him and his majority was doubtful. Hence, majority should be proved by convening an Assembly Session, he added.

He said the law and order situation had deteroriated in the Union Territory and the Cabinet meeting was being held to discuss the personal issue of Chief Minister and Ministers. In this circumstance Mr Rangasamy should resign owing moral responsibility, he said.

Mr Anbazhagan also suggested that if the Ministers could not function under Mr Rangasamy, they could also tender their resignations.

The burning of the effigy of AICC General Secretary V Narayanasamy MP and the picketing of the DGP office had created a bad impression on the Government among the people, he opined.

Hence, the Centre should intervene to dismiss the Congress Government here if the Chief Minister would fail to resign of his own, he added.

Mr Anbazhagan said the enhanced estimate for the Government Medical College was a ploy by the Government to stall the construction of it inorder to favour private medical colleges in the Union Territory.

Pondy: Functioning of OPD affected in JIPMER

Puducherry, May 21: Functioning of the out-patients department in the centrally administered JIPMER hospital was affected for about one-and-a-half hours this morning as the medical records department staff resorted to a strike. Accoridng to JIPMER sources, the registration of out-patients at the hospital was from 0800 hrs to 1030 hrs. The management on Saturday last asked the medical record staffs to begin the registration from 0730 hrs today. The staff contended that a decision.....
