Eight charred to death in van accident near Mangalore

Mangalore, Jan 26: Eight people were charred to death and two suffered burns when the van in which they were travelling dashed against an electric post at Kallappu, near here early today.

According to police, the mishap occurred when a Maruti Omni van in which a group of 11 labourers from Bihar were travelling hit a roadside electric pole on the National Highway No 17.

The vehicle caught fire due to the severe impact. Eight of them were burnt to death on the spot. While one of the traveller escaped unhurt after leaping out from the burning car, two others, including the van driver, who suffered burns, were admitted to the district hospital here.

The victims, burnt beyond recognition, were shifted to the hospital mortuary, the police added.

Singapore, Feb 20: India's Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) and its Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) unit have offered to sell early and late-March cargoes of naphtha, according to tender documents seen on Tuesday.ONGC offered a 35,000-tonne cargo from Mumbai loading Feb 28-March 2 or March 2-4. MPRL offered a 30,000-tonne cargo from New Mangalore loading March 23-25.The ONGC tender closes on Feb. 21, while the MRPL tender closes on Feb. 27. Bids should remain.....

Terex Vectra plans to sell 700 Backhoe loaders

Mangalore, July 26: Terex Vectra Equipment Limited, a 50:50 joint venture of Terex Corporation, USA and Vectra Limited, UK had targeted to sell 700 TX760 Backhoe Loader during the current year in the country. Addressing a press conference here last night, Amit Sood, General Manager (Marketing) of Terex Vectra, said that the company which had set up its manufacturing facility three years ago at Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh to manufacture Backhoe loaders and skid.....

K'taka: Miscreants ransack pvt channel office

Mangalore, July 23: Miscreants allegedly attacked a private TV Channel office here last night and ransacked the office computers, camera and furniture following alleged exposure of blue film racket in the city in its programme 'Warrant' recently. Reporter Rajesh Shetty, who tried to prevent the miscreant from entering the office, was attacked by the culprits. He sustained minor injuries. Senior police officials including Superintendent of Police Satish Kumar visited the office......
