APHRC adjourns hearing on naxal leader's arrest

Hyderabad, Jan 26 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Human Rights Commission (APHRC) Chairman B Subhashan Reddy today adjourned till January 29 the hearing on the reported arrest of State Maoist Secretary Sambasividu.

The Chairman gave the adjournment after the counsel for State Director General of Police SSP Yadav informed the DGP could not submit report on the arrest as police officials were busy with security arrangements for Republic Day.

Mr Justice Reddy asked the DGP to submit a report following a petition filed by the parents of the naxal leader before the APHRC yesterday, .

They also submitted a memorandum to State Home Minister K Jana Reddy seeking to produce their son before the court this evening.

Meanwhile, the local TV channels claimed they received phone calls from 'Blue Tigers' saying the top Maoist leader and two others were picked up at Vizianagar Agency Area.

The 'Blue Tigers,' claiming to be the Chhattisgarh Dalam, said Mr Sambasivudu was in their custody.

They would send audio tapes to the media tomorrow in which they will announce the action being taken against the naxal leader.

Naryanamurthy receives Legion of Honour
