Devotees took holy dip in Narmada on Sankranti

Bhopal, Jan 15: Several thousand people today took holy dip in Narmada and other rivers in Madhya Pradesh on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. Devotees took holy baths at Ghats along the Narmada river at Mandla, Jabalpur, Hoshangabad, Omkareshwar and its origin at Amarkantak.

At Sakalghat in Narsinghpur district, Dwarkapeeth Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati and other saints took the holy dip.

Barmanghat on the Narmada river also witnessed heavy rush of devotees, a report from Narsinghpur said.

Narmada displaced to be given jobs under NREGS

Bhopal, Jan 14: Several thousand families displaced due to many dams on the Narmada river and facing lack of regular employment near their rehabilitation sites in Madhya Pradesh will be given employment under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. A working plan to engage the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Below Poverty Line families in the employment guarantee programme had been prepared by the Narmada Valley Development Authority and Rural Development departments.
