Kolkata, Dec 29: Top HuJI militant Aftab Alam Ansari was arrested from the northern fringes of the city late evening in a joint operation by the West Bengal CID and Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force.
Bengal CID DIG (Operations) Rajib Kumar, talking to the sources, said, ''The UP STF had come to the city to arrest Ansari, who is wanted in several terror related cases. We have assisted the STF in the arrest.'' The joint force arrested the militant from a house at the Cossipur road of the Baranagar area in the city's northern fringes. Ansari will be produced before Alipore police court today and will be taken to UP a day after. The arrested was operating under a lot of aliases and was also known as Raju. He was arrested last evening and was interrogated by both the CID and the STF.
