Tight security for President's visit at Tirumala tomorrow

Tirumala, Dec 28 (UNI) Elaborate security arrangements were made for President Pratibha Patil's visit to Tirupati and Tirumala tomorrow.

Official sources said the President will arrive at Renigunta airport around 1200 hours from Port Blair by IAF flight and reach Tirumala at 1245 hours.

Ms Patil will offer worship to Lord Venkateswara between 1500 hrs to 1545 hrs. She will return to airport around 1625 hours and from there she will proceed to Hyderabad by the IAF flight.

Under the supervision of District Superintendent of Police Shashidhar Reddy and District Collector S S Rawat, a special police team had intensified their combing operations in the dense Tirumala forests and on both the ghat roads, besides deploying bomb disposal squads, anti-sabotage teams and rapid action force at Tirumala hills, the sources added.

BJP MPs urge Railways to provide rakes for transporting maize

Kumaraswamy to be discharged tomorrow

Nepal's parliament passes a bill to declare Nepal a federal republic

Kathmandu, Dec 28 (UNI) Nepal's parliament has endorsed the constitutional amendment bill turning the Himalayan nation into a federal democratic republic, which will be implemented by the first meeting of constituent assembly. Speaker Subash Nemwang said that out of 273 MPs, who participated in the voting, 270 voted in favour of the constitutional amendment while three voted against it. All the major political parties were in favour of declaring the Himalayan nation a republic except the royalist Rastriya Prajatantra Party......
