Three Bangladeshis nabbed in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, Dec 27 (UNI) Three Bangladeshi nationals, who were sentenced to imprisonment for a murder and later released on bail by a court there, were nabbed today by the police for living illegally in the city.

Acting on a tip-off, city police raided Chandola Lake area and arrested Rehana Mulla, her son Dukhimulla and their associate Sikandar Shaikh, police said.

All the three were living illegally in the city. They had been sentenced to 30 years of imprisonment for murder in Bangladesh.

They were granted bail, after 34 months, by a Bangladesh court and then they allegedly sneaked into India without proper documents, they added.

Bush Condemns Bhutto's assassination

Washington, Dec 28: US President George W Bush has condemned the assassination of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, urging her countrymen to keep the nation on a democratic path. Counting of votes in Himachal Pradesh begins

Shimla, Dec 28: Counting of votes polled in the Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh began at 0800 hrs this morning, amid tight security. The Election Commission has set up 41 counting stations throughout the state to count votes polled using hundreds of electronic voting machines. The main contest was between the BJP and the Congress. The elections to the 68 Assembly seats in the State were held in two phases on November 14 and December 19. The first phase election.....
