Rahul Bakshi wins Sunfeast All India title

New Delhi, Dec 28 (UNI) It proved third time lucky for Chandigarh's Rahul Bakshi as despite carding four-over 76 in the last round he won the Sunfeast All India Junior National Golf title here today.

Rahul finished the tournament at 1-over 289, four shots clear of his nearest rival.

Rashid Khan, with a card of 2-over 74, finished with a four- day tally of 293 to finish as the runners-up.

Abhijit Chadha finished fourth with 296 while Chikkarangappa was fifth at 297. Ashbeer Singh Saini and Ankur Chadha were tied for the sixth spot at 302.

Chikkarangappa won the 'B' category title by five strokes from Ashbeer. Ankur Chadha was third at 302 while Tarundeep Singh Chadha was fourth at 310.

In an interesting duel for the title in 'C' category, Viraat Bhadwar overcame the challenge of Rahul Ravi on the fourth play -off hole. This was after both the players finished with a tournament aggregate of 322.

Vidit Singh returned to form in brilliant fashion winning the title in Category 'D' and sealed his position as number one on the IGU Order of Merit in the same category.

He finished with a 3-day total of 19-over 235 and won by huge margin of 14 shots.

Five convicted in HSD misappropriation case, awarded 5 yrs RI

Kochi, Dec 28 (UNI) A special CBI court today convicted five people, including former Deputy Manager (refinary co-ordination) of South Exchange Pit Nataraja Aiyer of misusing his official post for illegally transferring High Speed Diesel (HSD) to four firms. Special CBI Judge P Chandrasekharan Pillai sentenced the five accused to three years rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 each under each count of offence punishable under sections 120-b, 409 read with 120-b 13(2) read with 13(1)(C) read with.....

PCI urges Orissa govt to protect Christians

Shillong, Dec 28 (UNI) The Presbyterian Church of India (PCI) today expressed shock and grief over recent attacks on Churches and Christian homes in Orissa. In a statement issued here, the PCI demanded from the Orissa government compensation for properties lost during the attack, besides providing humanitarian aid to the bereaved. The PCI also urged the Naveen Patnaik government to protect the lives and property of Christians and Churches. The protestant church also urged the people to join hands.....
