Pride Group to float IPO in Q1 of 2008

Ahmedabad, Dec 28 (UNI) Pride Group of Hotels will float an initial public offering (IPO) of 59.50 lakh shares in the first quarter of 2008 to meet requirements of its Rs 340 crore expansion plan.

Pride Group Chairman S P Jain today said the Group has received a significant investment of Rs 45 crore from Kotak India Real Estate Fund for part financing of its expansion-cum-renovation plan and an additional Rs 10 crore from a Mauritius-based Fund.

He said the Group aims to utilise the funds for setting up new hotels in Mumbai, Goa, Bangalore and Alibaug as well as for the expansion-cum-renovation plan.

Pride Hotels has acquired 4.5 acres land at Alibaug near Mumbai, where it proposes to set up a resort-cum-spa. The Company has also bought property near the international airport in Mumbai for the construction of a 200-room hotel while the Group's hotel in Bangalore is near completion and will open by June 2008.

The Group currently offers 430 rooms in Pune, Nagpur, Ahmedabad and Chennai and post-expansion it will offer 1,126 rooms in the five star category by 2009-10.

The Group has 11 food outlets including restaurants, coffee shops, bars, 19 banquet halls and conference rooms, Mr Jain said.

He said that as per the survey by FHRAI and Department of Tourism there is a shortage of 90,000 rooms in five star category of hotels. Therefore, the Tourism Department has offered an incentive scheme for construction of one to three star hotels, he added.

71% of unorganised manufacturing exists in rural India: Survey

New Delhi, Dec 29 (UNI) More than 71 per cent of manufacturing enterprises today exists in the country's rural tracts with West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh leading among the states having the maximum number of such industries, a government survey released here today said. According to the NSS 62nd Round survey report, the number of unorganised manufacturing enterprises which is estimated at 17.07 million in the country, only 29 per cent are in the urban areas as of 2005-06. Credit ratings on Pak can be lowered: Standard and Poor

Singapore, Dec 28 (UNI) Standard&Poor's Ratings Services today said the sovereign credit ratings on Pakistan can be lowered, if the assassination of Benazir Bhutto precipitates heightened levels of violence and political turmoil. It has currently rated Pakistan's foreign currency B+/Negative/B; and local currency BB/Negative/B. The death of former prime minister Bhutto, one of the main political contenders in the upcoming general elections, is a significant blow to Pakistan's transition to democratic rule, and leaves a considerable political vacuum in Pakistani politics,.....

Nepali Congress to open office in New Delhi

Kathmandu, Dec 28 (UNI) The oldest and biggest democratic party of the Himalayan nation, Nepali Congress has decided to establish a permanent party liaison office in New Delhi to further consolidate its relations with India, media reports said here today. "It is necessary to develop a center or office of the Nepali Congress in New Delhi," Kantipur quoted vice president of the party and Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Ram Chandra Poudel as saying. Mr Poudel was in New Delhi recently.....
