PCI urges Orissa govt to protect Christians

Shillong, Dec 28 (UNI) The Presbyterian Church of India (PCI) today expressed shock and grief over recent attacks on Churches and Christian homes in Orissa.

In a statement issued here, the PCI demanded from the Orissa government compensation for properties lost during the attack, besides providing humanitarian aid to the bereaved.

The PCI also urged the Naveen Patnaik government to protect the lives and property of Christians and Churches.

The protestant church also urged the people to join hands in their ''struggle against religious fundamentalists'' and work for a humane and pluralistic society.

Special rehabilitation project soon for flood affected

Bangalore, Dec 28 (UNI) Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur today said that the state government would come out with a special project for rehabilitation of people affected by floods in the districts of Dharwad, Gadag and Bagalkot, within a few weeks. Talking to reporters after his weekly meeting with Executive Committee, he said the High Level Committee headed by Advisor P P Prabhu had conducted a spot study of the flood-hit districts in the last season and would now prepare the project.....

TN to fix total marks as 500 for 10th class students

Chennai, Dec 28 (UNI) In a major policy decision, the Tamil Nadu Government has decided to introduce uniformity in fixing the total marks as 500 for tenth standard students, irrespective of the Boards. Taking into consideration that 84.85 per cent of the students who appeared for tenth standard examinations were from the State Board, the government had decided to issue certificates for a total of 500 marks for students of all Boards, without making any changes in the sylabus and question.....

GCMMF Milk procurement crosses 100 lakh kgs per day

Ahmedabad, Dec 28 (UNI) The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), popularly known as AMUL, has achieved a feat of procuring 100 lakh kgs milk per day on December 27. AMUL sources said here today that the dairy cooperatives of Gujarat under the GCMMF fold, crossed milk procurement of 100 lakh kgs per mark yesterday and claimed that this is the highest ever milk procurement achieved by any dairy network in India. The last highest milk procurement was 89 lakh kgs.....
