New regional Terai Madhesh Loktantrik Party formed in Nepal

Kathmandu, Dec 28 (UNI) Leaders of Nepal's Terai have formed a regional outfit, Terai-Madhes Loktantrik Party, under the leadership of Mahantha Thakur, an influential former Nepali Congress leader, who left the party recently.

The new party will campaign for the rights of Terai, it said.

The party is formed after many armed groups came into existence in Terai since the ouster of monarchy last year.

The party said it will make public its programmes and policies shortly.

Some leaders of major political parties have also joined the newly formed party.

Srinagar, 28 (UNI) Expressing strong resentment over inadequate staff in Handwara hospital, particularly non-operationalisation of a state-of-the-art paediatric ward the, Jammu and Kashmir High Court issued a show cause notice against the authorities. A single bench comprising Justice Mohammad Maqbool Mir issued the show cause notice to Health department officials on a petition filed by local residents alleging that the paediatric ward, constructed by the Indian Navy in memory of 20 school children drowned in a boat capsize in Wullar Lake.....

Kolkata, Dec 28 (UNI) Canadian High Commissioner to India David Malone today stressed on the importance of proper understanding of the Indian market among Canadian companies to improve investment and trade opportunites here. Speaking at an interactive session on "India-Canada: A Study in Contrast", Mr Malone emphasised on bilateral trade and investment between the two countries. Adampur coldest in Punjab at -0.6 degree celsius

Jalandhar, Dec 28 (UNI) Adampur airbase near here today turned out to be the coldest place in Punjab, recording season's low at minus 0.6 degree celsius. A Defence spokesperson said that the holy city of Amritsar witnessed 0.6 degree celsius while Halwara airbase near Ludhiana was cold at 2.8 degree celsius. The minimum temperature recorded at Pathankot was 3.6 degree, while in Bathinda it was low at 5.4 degree celsius. The Union Territory of Chandigarh was cold at 7.2 degree.....
