KC(J) urges Orissa Government to protect minority communities

Kottayam, Dec 28 (UNI) Kerala Congress leader T M Jacob today urged the Orissa Government to safeguard the people from the minority communities in the State.

Talking to newspersons here, after the State Committee meeting of the party here, he alleged that the Orissa Government had failed to provide adequate protection to the Churches and Institutions belonged to the Christian community.

Mr Jacob alleged that the concerned minister, Devaswom President and non-believing members of the God were responsible for the problems confronting Sabarimala. How come CPI(M), which was claiming to be a secular party, could issue show-cause notice to members for taking oath in the name of almighty, he asked.

He said if the Government failed to initiate measures to bring down the price of the essential commodities immediately, KC(J) would resort to agitations.

Elaborate arrangements made for PM's visit

Visakhapatnam, Dec 28 (UNI) Elaborate security arrangements have been made in view of the two-day visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to attend the 95th Indian Science Congress to be held here from January 3 to 7. City Police Commissioner N Sambasiva Rao today said more than 6,000 scientists from India and abroad were expected to participate in the congress. The Special Protection Group (SPG) had already taken over the arrangements at the venue. Bomb Disposal Squads were also deployed.....

Cong leader's body to be cremated Dec 29

Hyderabad, Dec 28 (UNI) The mortal remains of Senior Congress Leader and Khairatabad MLA P Janardhan Reddy who died here today would be consigned to flames at the Amberpet Crematorium tomorrow. Party sources said the body, kept at his house in the city, would be brought to Congress Party headquarters -- Gandhi Bhavan -- tomorrow morning. The funeral procession would start from the party office to the crematorium in the afternoon. The government declared a holiday for schools and colleges.....
