India's business chambers mourn Benazir's demise

New Delhi, Dec 28 (UNI) India's business community today unanimously mourned the demise of former Pakistan prime minister Benazir Bhutto who was killed yesterday in a suicide attack in Rawalpindi.

CII President Sunil Bharti Mittal said that the chamber is deeply saddened at the tragic loss of a senior leader of the sub-continent.

Stating that CII over the years has had the privilege to interact with Ms Bhutto, Mr Mittal offered his condolences to the people of Pakistan and to her family.

''A dastardly act like this emphasises the need for the world to unite and fight terrorism,'' a CII statement said.

Industry chamber Assocham also condemned the assassination of Ms Bhutto, describing it the most heinous and dastardly act.

In a statement issued here, the chamber President Venugopal N Dhoot said that Ms Bhutto was trying her best to restore democracy in Pakistan and with her assassination, the forces fighting for elimination of terrorism could weaken.

Four houses set on fire by TPC ultras

Holland scholar prepares English database of Lepcha bird names

Gangtok, Dec 28 (UNI) Being born naturalists, the Lepchas, the indigenous tribal community nestled in the Sikkim Himalayan region posses a vast undocumented dictionary of the rich biodiversity in their natural habitat. PM convenes all party leaders meeting on security

New Delhi, Dec 28 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh convened a meeting of all party leaders this evening to apprise them of the security scenario in the backdrop of the assassination of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto at Rawalpindi.
