HP Cabinet recommends dissolution of state Assembly

Shimla, Dec 28 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet today recommended the dissolution of the state Assembly to Governor V S Kokje following the ruling Congress' defeat in the elections.

The Cabinet, which met under the leadership of Congress Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, decided to recommend dissolution of the assembly after the BJP secured majority in the 68-member House, state Chief Secretary Ravi Dhingra told UNI.

He said only State Power Minister Vidya Stokes and Animal Husbandry Minister Harsh Mahajan besides the Chief Minister were present in the meeting.

The letter, recommending the dissolution of the House, has been forwarded to the Governor for further action, he added.

Nepali Congress to open office in New Delhi

Kathmandu, Dec 28 (UNI) The oldest and biggest democratic party of the Himalayan nation, Nepali Congress has decided to establish a permanent party liaison office in New Delhi to further consolidate its relations with India, media reports said here today. "It is necessary to develop a center or office of the Nepali Congress in New Delhi," Kantipur quoted vice president of the party and Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Ram Chandra Poudel as saying. Two revenue inspectors arrested for accepting bribes

Bangalore, Dec 28 (UNI) Karnataka Lokayukta police today arrested three persons including two revenue inspectors on the charges of accepting bribe for showing an official favour. According to a Lokayukta release, a revenue inspector S Rajendra of Devanahalli Taluk demanded Rs 8,000 to give the copy of tahsildar's order and to enter the name of Lakshmana of Kundana village in the mutation register. The Lokayukta police caught Lokesha redhanded while accepting the bribe at the instance of the revenue inspector Rajendra......
