GCMMF Milk procurement crosses 100 lakh kgs per day

Ahmedabad, Dec 28 (UNI) The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), popularly known as AMUL, has achieved a feat of procuring 100 lakh kgs milk per day on December 27.

AMUL sources said here today that the dairy cooperatives of Gujarat under the GCMMF fold, crossed milk procurement of 100 lakh kgs per mark yesterday and claimed that this is the highest ever milk procurement achieved by any dairy network in India. The last highest milk procurement was 89 lakh kgs per day achieved on January 15, 2007.

Sources said the entire quantity of milk was accepted without any milk holidays and was processed successfully into milk and milk products.

Earlier this year, GCMMF achieved a record by crossing US dollar one billion in its sales turnover and entered the elite club of food companies having this distinction.

Attractive procurement prices coupled with strengthening of the procurement base have helped in achieving this record, sources added.

Anand based GCMMF is the apex body of 13 District Milk Unions, having a membership of 2.7 million members spread across 13,000 villages of Gujarat.

The company has chosen Bollywood beauty Bipasha Basu as its brand ambassador for 360 degree promotional campaign of this particular range in India, the company said here today.

Speaking on the occasion, company Managing Director Sulajja Firodia said, ''We plan to reach the sale target of 75,000 by the Fiscal Year 2009 for Flyte, which may generate a business of approximately Rs 250 crore.'' The company will primarily focus on the sales promotion of this range during the remaining month this fiscal, Ms Firodia said adding, ''however, we expect the orders from the Tata Motors for manufacturing of gear box.'' Kinetic, transferred its two-wheeler operation to group firm Kinetic Motor Co in late 2006 to focus on auto parts, and is spending Rs 50 crore to set up a facility to make gear boxes. The plant will start in June, she added.

The company now supplies engines and transmission parts to European two wheeler makers and Indian three-wheeler producers.

Kinetic, along with Sona Koyo Steering Systems, Gabriel, Lumax Industries, Rico Auto and Bosch Chassis Systems will supply components for Tata Motors' ambitious project.

Tight security for TN CM in Tirupur following threat

Coimbtore, Dec 28 (UNI) Tight security has been ensured in Tirupur for the visit of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to the town tomorrow to officially upgrade it into a Corporation from a municipality.
