Elaborate security arrangements for Bikramganj Lok Sabha by-poll

Patna, Dec 28 (UNI) The state administration had made elaborate and fool proof security arrangements to ensure peaceful polling during Bikramganj Lok Sabha by election tomorrow while shoot at sight order had been issued to prevent trouble mongers from disrupting the poll process.

State Chief Electoral Officer Sudhir Kumar Rakesh told reporters here that more than 13 lakh voters would exercise their franchise at 1434 polling booths.Sixty per cent polling booths had been declared as sensitive and hyper sensitive and the security arrangements had been made accordingly, he added.

'' Forty companies of paramilitary forces had been deployed at various booths to ensure free and fare polling,'' he said adding digital cameras had also been installed at sensitive booths to check the incidents of tampering with Electoral Voting Machine(EVM).

The border of the Rohtas district with Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand had been sealed to check the influx from trouble mongers from other states, he said adding special magistrates were deputed on sectoral basis in the entire constituency.

Poachers nabbed in Chhattisgarh

Pathalgaon, Chhattisgarh, Dec 28 (UNI) Six villagers were arrested today for using electrocution to poach elephants and other wild animals in Raigarh district's Dharamjaigarh Forest Division. ''The gang poached a tusker last week in Chhal Forest Circle. Post mortem confirmed electrocution and monitoring was stepped up. When the accused ventured forth today they were apprehended along with wire by forest officials,'' Divisional Forest Officer Hemant Pandey told UNI. S Tel to offer revised tariff across the nation

Chennai, Dec 27 (UNI) S Tel Limited, a telecom provider establishing a spectrum efficient state-of-the-art telecom infrastructure and network on pan-India basis, will offer 30 paise per call and drive the tariff down across the country. According to a company release here today, S Tel was one among the applicants for new telecom licences in all the 22 service areas in the country. S Tel had filed their application before October one, 2007 deadline set by the DoT for filing applications......
