Elaborate arrangements made for PM's visit

Visakhapatnam, Dec 28 (UNI) Elaborate security arrangements have been made in view of the two-day visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to attend the 95th Indian Science Congress to be held here from January 3 to 7.

City Police Commissioner N Sambasiva Rao today said more than 6,000 scientists from India and abroad were expected to participate in the congress.

The Special Protection Group (SPG) had already taken over the arrangements at the venue. Bomb Disposal Squads were also deployed in the city.

He said police force from eight districts would also be deployed.

The Prime Minister would address more than 50,000 'Dwacra' women of the Self-Help Groups, during the event.

Lucknow, Dec 28 (UNI) The Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh Police today busted a smuggling syndidate in Gorakhpur with the arrest of five persons possessing four kg heroin, estimated at Rs four crore in the international market.
