Delhi beat Chandigarh and lift CK Naidu cricket title

New Delhi, Dec 28 (UNI) Fine knock by Yogesh Nagar (81) and superb bowling by left arm spinner Ajay Chauhan (4/17) helped Delhi beat Chandigarh by 111 runs and lift the CK Naidu under -19 cricket title here today.

Yogesh Nagar was top scorer in the tournament having scored 103, 109, 71 and 81 in four matches.

Five convicted in HSD misappropriation case, awarded 5 yrs RI

Kochi, Dec 28 (UNI) A special CBI court today convicted five people, including former Deputy Manager (refinary co-ordination) of South Exchange Pit Nataraja Aiyer of misusing his official post for illegally transferring High Speed Diesel (HSD) to four firms. Special CBI Judge P Chandrasekharan Pillai sentenced the five accused to three years rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 each under each count of offence punishable under sections 120-b, 409 read with 120-b 13(2) read with 13(1)(C) read with.....

PCI urges Orissa govt to protect Christians

Shillong, Dec 28 (UNI) The Presbyterian Church of India (PCI) today expressed shock and grief over recent attacks on Churches and Christian homes in Orissa. In a statement issued here, the PCI demanded from the Orissa government compensation for properties lost during the attack, besides providing humanitarian aid to the bereaved. The PCI also urged the Naveen Patnaik government to protect the lives and property of Christians and Churches. The protestant church also urged the people to join hands.....

DCs directed to review MPLADS projects

Chandigarh, Dec 28 (UNI) Punjab Chief Secretary Ramesh Inder Singh has asked all the Deputy Commissioners of the state to review the implimentation of Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) on fortnightly basis to ensure proper utilisation of funds in their respective districts.
