Blast in hospital kills four in Uttar Pradesh

Bahraich, Dec 28: At least four people were killed and two others seriously wounded, when a blast occurred at the district hospital here this morning.

The explosion occurred at a section of Malariya hospital, Chandpur, where construction work was going on, District Magistrate Sudhir Srivastava today told to the sources. Official sources said the blast was of high intensity as nearby shops collapsed, and one Jahid died. Three others also died after coming under the debris.

The deceased have been identified as Munna (35), Sanjay Singh (42) and Jahid (40).

Mr Srivastava said the blast could have occurred due to bursting of a gas cylinder, however, police are investigating the matter keeping security reasons in view as the district lies at the Indo-Nepal border.

Rescue work is on, he added.

Colombo, Dec 29: Two people were wounded in a blast in a van on the outskirts of the Sri Lankan capital today, the military said. ''There was a van parked there, there was an explosion, we are investigating what actually happened,'' Brigadier Prasad Samarasinghe told Reuters. The incident took place in Wattala, 10 km north of Colombo, he said. The van driver was among the two injured. Suicide bombings, mine attacks and clashes.....

NATO soldier killed in southern Afghanistan

Kabul, Dec 28: A NATO soldier was killed and three injured, one seriously, after a blast caused their vehicle to crash during a reconnaissance mission in southern Afghanistan, the alliance said today. It did not give the nationalities of the soldiers, nor more details of yesterday's incident in Helmand province, a Taliban stronghold. NATO said in a statement it was investigating. Most troops deployed in Helmand as part of the NATO-led International Security.....
