APCC mourns death of former Pak PM Benazir Bhutto

Hyderabad, Dec 28 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today strongly condemned the ghastly assassination of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, the charismatic leader and the hope of the democracy-loving people all over the world, in the hands of extremist elements''.

In a statement, party spokesperson N Thulasi Reddy said her services to the people were too well-known and had been hailed across the globe. Undoubtedly, her death would put Pakistan in a limbo and push it deeper into the unshakeable arms of fundamentalists.

The APCC held the ruling military junta ''squarely responsible'' for this brutal attack as it had taken place in the thickly-guarded military zone.

''We convey our heartfelt condolences to the people of Pakistan and the bereaved family members of Bhutto. We pray to the Almighty to bless her soul with eternal peace.'' UNI

Benazir's last ritual prayers offered at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh

Karachi, Dec 28: The last rituals and namaz-e-janaza of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto were offered in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh this afternoon. Hundreds of thousands of people gathered to offer the namaz-e-janaza. Benazir"s relatives, friends, important personalities, party leaders, and party workers were among those who offered prayers. According to The News, Hafiz Hakim Ali Mangi led the prayers. Mangi is the son of Maulana Mehmood Ahmed Bhutto, who had led the namaz-e-janaza of Benazir"s father and former Prime Minister.....

Culture Ministry keen to organise Hindi Conference

New Delhi, Dec 28 (UNI) Union Culture Minister Ambika Soni today said her ministry would discuss the possibility of organising a Hindi Sammelan on January 10, 2009, on the occasion of 'World Hindi Divas', with the ministries of External Affairs and Human Resource Development. Addressing a meeting of 'Hindi Salahakar Samiti' attached to the Culture Ministry, Ms Soni said Hindi language has a special place in Indian culture and hence her ministry shares more responsibility for its development and promotion......

Train passenger stabbed to death, Rs 80,000 robbed

Bangalore, Dec 28 (UNI) In a macabre incident, one passenger of Bangalore-Guwhati passenger was stabbed to death and two others were injured by a three member gang who escaped with booty of Rs 80,000 in the early hours today. According to police, Akmal Hussain (48) was returning to West Bengal with his wife and uncle when the robbers entered the general compartment in which they were traveling and started teasing Bibijan for which uncle took strong exception. The culprits stabbed Akmal.....
