All party meet condemns assassination of Benazir

New Delhi, Dec 28 (UNI) An all party meeting convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today strongly condemned the brutal assassination of Benazir Bhutto and expressed its resolve to defeat the forces of terrorism in the region.

Among those who attended the meeting were BJP leaders Mr L K Advani and Mr Jaswant Singh, Mr A B Bardhan (CPI), Mr Sitaram Yechuri (CPI-M), Mr Sharad Yadav (JD-U) and Mr Shahid Siddique (SP).

Hailing Ms Bhutto, former Prime Minister of Pakistan, as an outstanding leader of South Asia and a voice of moderation and democracy in her country, the leaders conveyed their heartfelt sympathies to members of her family and to the people of the neighbouring country.

The meeting was held at the official residence of Dr Singh at 7 Race Course Road shortly after his return from Goa.

Kumaraswamy to lead JD(S) in Assembly polls

Bangalore, Dec 28 (UNI) Former Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today said he would lead the Janata Dal(Secular) in the coming elections the State Assembly. Talking to mediapersons at the Wockhardt Hospital here, where he underwent an open heart surgery recently, he said, ''I would lead the party in the coming Assembly elections and ensure the JD(S) comes to power with a majority on its own.'' Mr Kumaraswamy said the party workers need not have any apprehension about his health.....

Ex-PMs condemn Benazir Bhutto's murder

New Delhi, Dec 28 (UNI) Describing the assasination of Pakistan's Opposition leader Benazir Bhutto as "shocking and condemnable", former Prime Minister V P Singh today expressed the hope that her sacrifice will strengthen the forces of democracy and peace in Pakistan. In a statement here, he said in her death the Indian sub-continent has lost one of the most stalwart leader. "Her demise is a very big setback to the democratic process."
