4 houses set on fire by TPC ultras in Jharkhand

Daltonaganj, Dec 28 (UNI) The Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC) ultras set on fire four houses in Goriachora village under Hussainabad police station area in Palamu district of Jharkhand early today.

Police said property worth about Rs 3 lakh was damaged in the incident.

One of the house belonged to self-styled zonal commander of prescribed CPI(Maoist), police added.

Temperature remains steady throughout the state

Kolkata, Dec 28 (UNI) Temperature throughout the state remained steady today with the minimum hovering around 13 degree Celsius. Met officals here informed that clear although it was foggy earlier in the day, weather become later on. The maximum temperature in the city was recorded at 25.1 degrees Celsiu, two degrees below normal, while the minimum was pegged at 13.6 degrees Celsius. According to the North Bengal University Recording Station, the temperature in the hills had risen with the maximum.....

Child labour declines in Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad, Dec 28 (UNI) The number of child labourers has declined by 49 per cent in Andhra Pradesh, State Directorate of Economic and Statistics Director Saroja Rama Rao said today. Talking to newspersons here, Ms Rao said the number of child labourers had declined to 2.2 lakh from 5.11 lakh in the state. It had declined by 49 per cent during the fifth economic census 2005, as compared to fourth economic census conducted in 1998, she added. Stating that 112.02 lakh.....
