1320 policemen killed fighting militancy in J

Jammu, Dec 28 (UNI) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu zone S P Vaid claimed that 1320 policemen, including Special Police Officers (SPOs), have sacrificed their lives while combating militancy for the last 17 years in Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to mediapersons here yesterday, Dr Vaid said, ''870 Jammu and Kashmir police cops and 450 SPOs laid down their lives in insurgency operations and in the wars between India, Pakistan and China.

''The policemen sacrificed their lives while guarding the state's and the nation's integrity during militancy,'' Dr Vaid said, adding that the President and the Prime Minister also recognised the valour of the Jammu and Kashmir police.

GDP to grow by 9 pc: ASSOCHAM

New Delhi, Dec 28, 2007 : According to a survey conducted by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India or ASSOCHAM, the GDP is expected to grow by 9% in the fiscal year 2007-2008. Earlier, ASSOCHAM had projected the GDP growth at 8.7% but considering the growing rate of investment, it has revised its projection. Watch Video .....

Davanagere District Information Officer kept under suspension

Davanagere, Dec 28(UNI) Davanagere District Information Officer T Kanumappa today placed under suspension for dereliction of duties. Karnataka Information Commissioner Rabindernath Tagore ordered suspension of Kanumappa based on a report from District Deputy Commissioner M B Dyaberi. The Commissioner has also ordered a departmental inquiry against Kanumappa. Mr Dyaberi had told reporters recently that he had given 18 month time to Kanumappa to change his attitude while discharging the official duties, but he did not correct himself forcing him to.....
