Unidentified gunmen injure three minors

Kohima, Dec 27 (UNI) Three minor siblings were injured when unknown miscreants fired indiscriminately in the Kangtsung village under Tuli subdivision at Mokokchung district of Nagaland.

Official sources said here today that altercations were on in the village between the supporters of Legislator Talinungsang Ao from the Tuli Assembly Constituency and aspiring candidate Imti Jamir since December 23.

In the show of strength, some unidentified gunmen fired indiscriminate gunshots early yesterday, injuring three children, who were shifted to the Jorhat Civil Hospital in Assam.

This was the second incident of firing at Kangtsung village. A person was killed in gun firing in the village about two months back.

The Nagaland Assembly election is scheduled for February. The Election Commission was yet to declare the scheduled dates. However, state Election department sources said the Election Commission was expected to declare the schedule by mid-January.

Road mishap: 6 killed in Uttar Pradesh

Balrampur, Dec 27: At least six people were killed after the jeep in which they were travelling fell into a gorge in the Mevalal area this morning. The accident took place, when the jeep coming from Tulipur was hit by a speeding truck, sources said. Meanwhile, the four injured passengers have been referred to Lucknow. Furnish fortnightly status report to Planning department: Baig

Srinagar, Dec 27 (UNI) Concerned over the unnecessary delay and slow pace of work on some developmental projects, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Baig has asked the District Development Commissioners (DDC) to furnish status reports of ongoing development within 15 days to the Planning department. There should be strict monitoring of financial status of each scheme and ensuring reasonable pace of work, he said during a meeting of district officers of Kashmir division held here today to review.....

Kumble did what is considered to be hardest: Warne

Melbourne, Dec 27 (UNI) Anil Kumble's first day bowling heroics against Australia in Melbourne were enough for the spin legend Shane Warne to use him as an example for the budding Australian spin bowlers. Warne who was recently appointed by Cricket Australia to coach and develop young Australian spin bowlers said, ''The hardest time to bowl spin in an MCG Test match is day one and in the face of the big opening stand he came on and swung the game.....
