Russia strongly condemns the assassination of Benazir Bhutto

Moscow, Dec 27 (UNI) Russian Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the killing of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

"We strongly condemn this terrorist act, convey our condolences to the family and friends of Benazir Bhutto and hope that the Pakistani authorities will provide for national stability," the official spokesman for the Ministry Mikhail Kamynin said in a statement.

Mr Kamynin said the Russian Foreign Ministry many times warned that the Pakistani administration "must do its best to ensure the maximum stability in the election period and prevent terrorist acts against Benazir Bhutto and other political leaders." UNI

40 passengers injured as two buses collide

Ramanathapuram, Dec 27 (UNI) Forty passengers were injured, 12 of them seriously, in a head-on collision between a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus and a private bus at Vagaikulam, near Paramakudi, here today. Police sources said the mishap occurred when the driver of the Government bus, on its way to Rajapalayam from Rameswaram, attempted to overtake a van. All the injured, including ten women, were rescued by the fire service personnel with the help of locals and admitted to.....

Board meeting of proposed 'Smart City' project convened

Kochi, Dec 27 (UNI) The first meeting of the Board of Directors' of the proposed 'Smart City' project at Kakannad near here was convened under the chairmanship of Kerala Fisheries Minister S Sarma. According to sources, the ten-member board had decided to prepare a master plan for the project by June 2008 and passed an one-year budget for construction and other purposes. Indian forces on border alerted, states to be vigilant

New Delhi, Dec 27 (UNI) India today alerted its forces on the border and advised states to maintain vigil in view of the assassination of former Pakistan premier Benazir Bhutto in Rawalpindi. The forces on the Indo-Pak border have been asked to remain vigilant to foment any possible threat of infilteration or other kind of threat. States have also been asked to remain vigilant, a home ministry spokesman said here today. UNI.....
