Rs 66.50 crore being spent on road projects in Ganderbal

Srinagar, Dec 27 (UNI) An amount of Rs 66.50 crores is being spent on different road projects under various Centrally and state -sponsored schemes in Ganderbal district where work on Tulabagh Sheer Pathri Receiving Station would be taken up in January.

This was stated at a high level meeting of officers held under the chairmanship of Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Forests and Environment Qazi Mohammad Afzal at Ganderbal today.

The meeting inofrmed that three road projects at a cost of Rs 3.68 crores under PMGSY are under execution and the work on these projects is in full swing to be completed by the end of May 2008.

Construction on five road projects in Ganderbal constituency at a cost of Rs 8.83 crores would be taken up in January under the Bharat Nirman Programme. These road projects include Chuntiwar- Gulabpore, Chuntiwar-Waliwar, Guzzarbal-Dedrambagh, National Highway- Malsahibagh and Kujjar to Rakh Kujjar.

The upgradation of two more road projects including Lar Barsoo- Manigam and Nagbal- Bakuroo at a cost of Rs 9 crores would also commence in the next month.

Project report of 22 road projects at a cost of Rs 45 crores has been prepared. These road projects would be completed by the end of 2009 and would benefit population of 31 villages, the meeting said.

IHF to field junior team in Malaysian Meet

Chandigarh, Dec 27 (UNI) The Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) will be sending an 18-member team to participate in the Junior Invitation Hockey Tournament to be held in Kuala Lumpur from January 17 to 27. India, Pakistan, Australia, Germany, Holland, Korea and host Malaysia have staked their claim for the top honours.
