R&R, Sequel JV to bring high-end LCD panel repair to India

Bangalore, Dec 27(UNI) City-based Repair and Return (R and R) Private Ltd and Sequel Technology Inc of Taiwan have inked a joint venture agreement to bring the high-end technology of LCD panel repair to India.

Briefing newspersons on the tie-up here last night, Sequel Managing Director David Chao said the two companies would set up a state-of-the-art LCD panel repair service for monitors and laptops and other 'After Market Services (AMS)' for both consumers and electronic industry.

Later, they would expand to take up repairs of cell phone and LCD televisions.

"India has largely untapped infrastructure. It is now sending its LCDs to China and Tiwan for repair. This JV would help us offer the high-tech services within the country. R and R will also provide logistics to our global customers.'' An investment of two million US Dollars would be made to set up the facility in the city.

''We have the technology to repair LCD panels from 15 to 65 inches,'' he added.

R and R Chairman R Jayakumar said the JV would pave way for global high-end electronics manufacturers to outsource repairs and services to India. Sequel would provide us with the technology to repair LCD panels and in return pickup 9.25 per cent stake in R and R.

R and R General Manager M V N Prasad said the partnership would bring branded repair service to India and add value to global brands that included defective pickup, problem screening and validation.

Sensex moves 131 points up

Mumbai, Dec 27: The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex moved up by 131 points in the early trade on sustained buying by funds and general investors. Rupee opens flat at 39.42/43 agianst USD

Mumbai, Dec 27: Rupee today opened flat at 39.42/43 against the US currency from its previous close in a less active inter bank foreign exchange (Forex) market. Time acquires Bahrain based Co for Rs 19.8 cr

Mumbai, Dec 27 (UNI) In a Rs 19.8 crore (USD 5 million) deal, Time Technoplast (TIME) has acquired Bahrain-based Gulf Powerbeat WLL (GPW)- manufacturer of automotive batteries from Al-Tajir Group of UAE. The acquisition was carried out through its Hyderabad-based subsidiary NED Energy (NED), where it has a 71 per cent stake, announced a release today. The total investment in the Bahrain project is estimated at USD 10 mn over the next 3 years, and will be financed through.....
