Religious Trust to finance heart suregeries to needy children

Chennai, Dec 27 (UNI) The 'Sri Narayani Peedam', which administers the newly consecrated Golden temple of Goddess Mahalakshmi at Sripuram near Vellore, about 150 km from here, will provide financial assistance to 320 poor children across the country for performing heart surgeries next year.

Talking to reporters here today, the 'Om Sakthi Narayani Siddar Peedam' Charitable Trust Manager Administration Sampath said the financial assistance would be given under the scheme ''Arogya'' launched by the Trust.

Under the scheme, about 80 poor children were given assistance last year. This year it was decided to extend the assistance to 320 poor people to commemorate the consecretation of the temple, which took place in August this year, and to celebrate the 32nd Jayanthi of Sakthi Amma, who established the Narayani Peedam 15 years back, that falls on January three, 2008.

Youth commits suicide after wounding beloved

Jaunpur, Dec 27 (UNI) A youth committed suicide after opening fire on his paramour and another person in Singramau area of this district. The incident occurred last evening in Firozpur village, where Ashvani Shukla (23) shot at his beloved Mamta (20) of the same village. Curfew relaxed in Phulbani, continues in rest of Kandhmal district

Bhubaneswar, Dec 27 (UNI) Authorities today relaxed curfew in Phulbani town this morning while it remained in force in other areas of Kandhmal district, which had witnessed a communal clashes between tribals and Christians. Curfew was imposed first in Baliguda and Phulbani on December 23 night and later in Daringibadi, Phiringia and Tikabali, following widespread violence after a clash between the two communities. Srinagar, Dec 27 (UNI) A local court has directed the Jammu and Kashmir police to submit case diaries in connection with the murder of a girl, who had named some people including a woman, allegedly involved in the sexual exploitation of innocent girls. The order to police by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) came on a petition filed by the Forum Against Social Evils (FASE).
