Railway production units exceed targets

New Delhi, Dec 27 (UNI) All the production units of Indian Railways, including Chitranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) and Rail Coach Factory (RCF), exceeded their targets during the first eight months of the fiscal 2007-08.

CLW produced 115 electric engines against the target of 112 while Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) produced 154 diesel locomotives against the target of 145 during April-November.

RCF manufactured 917 coaches though the target was set at 911 coaches whereas Integral Coach Factory (ICF) produced 788 coaches against the target of 812 coaches.

Rail Wheel Factory (RWF) produced 87,105 wheels and 27,940 axles against the target of 82,177 wheels and 27,824 axles during the period.

During the month of November, CLW, DLW, ICF, RCF and RWF produced 18 electric locomotives, 17 diesel locomotives, 120 coaches, 134 coaches, 13,350 wheels and 5,604 axles respectively against the target of 18 electric locomotives, 18 diesel locomotives, 130 coaches, 133 coaches, 10,830 wheels and 5,732 axels, respectively.

The punctuality percentage of mail and express trains was 92 per cent in Broad Gauge and 99.2 per cent in Metre Gauge during November compared to 91.9 per cent and 99.5 per cent respectively during the same period last year.

Railways realised an amount of Rs. 25 crore in November through ticket checking.

Prakash to decide on next move after January 14
