Prisoner back in jail for new offence despite getting bail!

Madurai, Dec 27 (UNI) A 28-year-old remand prisoner gave the slip to escort police ignorant of the fact that he had been granted bail, and promptly landed behind the bars again.

Police sources said Jayachandran (28), who was involved in several theft cases, had been lodged in Madurai Central prison.

He was taken to Chennai in connection with a theft case and was produced before a court on December 21, the day on which a Madurai Court had ordered his release on bail.

Unaware of this, Jayachandran escaped from the police near Cuddalore district when he was being brought back to Madurai Central prison, leading to the suspension of three police personnel, who escorted him.

Unfortunately for him, a patrol team, which found him moving under suspicious circumstances at Tirumangalam near here, nabbed him after a hot chase last evening. They did not know that Jayachandran had been granted bail.

Later, Jayachandran was informed about the bail granted to him.

But he was re-arrested and lodged in prison again.

The bail order was cancelled as Jayachandran had escaped from custody.
