Pranab Mukherjee is shoked at death of Benazir Bhutto

Kolkata, Dec 27 (UNI) External Affiars Minister Pranab Mukherjee today expressed shock and sorrow at the death of Benazir Bhutto and termed her as an adminstrator, who looked for the improvement of Indo-Pakistan realtions.

Mr Mukherjee, who was in the city on his way to Delhi from Bangalore, told reporters " I heard with shock and sorrow about the death of Mrs Benazir Bhutto".

"Mrs.Bhutto was brave and outstanding woman leader of the sub-continent and that she should fall to barbaric terroist act, is particularly tragic", Mr Mukherjee said.

"Mrs.Bhutto contribution to the democracy, to the improvement of India-Pakistan relations and for restoration of normalcy within Pakistan will remain an inspiration", he said.

"My heartfelt condolences go to her immediate family, her party colleagues and to the people of Pakistan. Our prayers are with them", Mr Mukherjee said.

He left for Delhi tonight as Prime Minister Monmohan Singh has called for an urgent meeting.

Badal expresses shock over Benazir's assassination

Chandigarh, Dec 27 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said that the assassination of the former Pakistan Prime Minister Ms Benazir Bhutto was ''too shocking for words.'' In a statement here today, Mr Badal said Ms Bhutto's efforts to restore democracy in her country will long be remembered.
