Pranab expresses 'utter shock, horror' at Benazir killing

New Delhi, Dec 27 (UNI) External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee expressed shock at the assassination of Pakistan's former Prime Minister Beznazir Bhutto saying he was at a loss for words.

Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma also expressed ''utter shock and horror'' at the incident.

''We are shocked and saddened...We are at a loss for words...,'' the External Affairs Minister said.

Former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh said he was ''shattered'' at the tragedy which is not only for Pakistan but for the entire region.

''...it is not only bad for Pakistan but for the region...Lot of people were looking upto her,'' the former External Affairs Minister said.

He described the incident an ''act of cowardice'' for the people who want an end to terrorism.

''Our hearts and minds go out to the family, of whom not many are left, and to her children...'' Mr Natwar Singh said.

IOA to finally discuss Draft Sports Policy with Ministry in Jan

New Delhi, Dec 26 (UNI) Indian Olympic Association (IOA) will finally have discussions with the Sports Ministry next month on the controversal Draft National Sports Policy, its chief Suresh Kalmadi said today. Virtually giving an ultimatum, Sports Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar had last week said the Draft Policy would not be delayed any more and if IOA does not come for discussions, it will be tabled before the Cabinet next month. Mr Aiyar had said the IOA and National Sports.....

Haryana players stage dharna on the court

Jaipur, Dec 27 (UNI) Following the insident of alleged man handling of the players by the hosts, Haryana players along with players from some more teams staged a dharna in protest, which was ultimately removed after the apology expressed by the organising secretary of the 56the Senior National Volleyball Championship at the SMS Indoor hall here today. In the meantime, Volleyball Federation of India (VFI) control committee reduced the ban over Haryana captain Amir Singh and coach Omprakash for only one.....
