Prakash to decide on next move after January 14

Bangalore, Dec 27 (UNI) Janata Dal (Secular) rebel leader and former Karnataka Home Minister M P Prakash today said he would decide his next poitical move only after January 14.

Talking to newspersons after a meeting with his supporters here, he said it was decided to announce the decision on joining any political party only after two weeks.

''We are not in a hurry and there is no pressure on us to take the decision now itself,'' he added.

Stating that they would join a party committed to its principles and promoted people-oriented rule in the State, he said he had held talks with leaders of various parties in this connection. However, a decision to join any party would be taken only after January 14, he added.

To a question on joining the Congress in the context of a controversy over discriminatory treatment between original members and migrants to the party, he said there was no pure political party as such changes take place all the time in all parties.

Floods in Sri Lanka displaced 1,75,000 people

Sri lanka, 25 Dec, 2007 : According to the government officials of Sri Lanka, heavy rains on Monday, December 24th caused a reservoir to burst its banks in the eastern district of Batticaloa, where more than 40,000 families comprising around 1, 50,000 people were displaced from their homes. Lack of ''contemplation'' in press

Bhopal, Dec 27 (UNI) Expressing concern over lack of contemplation in the Fourth Estate, an eminent journalist today opined that the reader alone could play a key role in conserving values.
