Musharraf condemns Benazir's assassination

ISLAMABAD, Dec 27 (UNI) Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has condemned in strongest possible terms the terrorist attack in which former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was killed in Rawalpindi.

The President convened a high-level emergency meeting here soon after Ms Bhutto was assassinated. Caretaker Prime Minister Mohammadmian Soomro was also present.

Gen (Retd) Musharraf urged the people to stay calm and declared his resolve to continue the fight against terror.

Haryana Roadways employees ''beg'' for tyres

Hisar, Dec 27 (UNI) It was an unusual scene in the bus stands of the town today when the Haryana Roadways employees were seen begging for alms. The employees had resorted to this unique style of protest to underscore the apathy of authority concerned over the scarcity of tyres for the state roadways buses. Police sounded high alert in Ramanathapuram district

Ramanathapuram, Dec 27 (UNI) A high alert was sounded by the police in Ramanathapuram district in view of assassination of Pakistan's former Prime Minister Mrs.Benazir Bhutto in a suicide bomber attack in Rawalpindi, today. Police personnel were deployed at vantage points and vehicular checkups were intensified. Surveillance on the entire coastal belt of the district was also intensified, a police official said. The police were maintaining round-the-clock vigil in the district and check posts were alerted to keep maximum vigil,.....

Pranab Mukherjee is shoked at death of Benazir Bhutto

Kolkata, Dec 27 (UNI) External Affiars Minister Pranab Mukherjee today expressed shock and sorrow at the death of Benazir Bhutto and termed her as an adminstrator, who looked for the improvement of Indo-Pakistan realtions. Mr Mukherjee, who was in the city on his way to Delhi from Bangalore, told reporters " I heard with shock and sorrow about the death of Mrs Benazir Bhutto". "Mrs.Bhutto was brave and outstanding woman leader of the sub-continent and that she should fall to barbaric.....
