Governor urges to strengthen cooperative sector

Ahmedabad, Dec 27 (UNI) Gujarat Governor Naval Kishore Sharma today emphasised need to strengthen the cooperative sector for development and prosperity of the country.

Inaugurating the National Symposium on Cooperation and the three-day 43rd National Inter-University Debating Competition, the Governor called upon the young generation to come forward to serve the nation by participating in the cooperative sector.

Mr Sharma said that people in India are ready to take on the challenges of globalisation. The only thing they require is proper guidance. Veterans of cooperative sector should guide the new generation, he added.

''In this age of capitalism, rising rift between the poor and the rich is a matter of concern. It is the root cause of violent tendency in today's world,'' Mr Sharma said.

The Governor added that the credit for the success of the Green Revolution goes to the cooperative movement.

Leaders from various cooperative organisations participated in the seminar.

Benazir assassination bad for Pakistan, region: Natwar
