Embroidery work on Srirangam temple tower in Limca Book

Tiruchirapalli, Dec 27 (UNI) A tapestry depicting the world's largest temple tower and promoted by the city based TILUNA educational and charitable trust has been selected for entry into Limca Book of Records.

According to a TILUNA press release here today, Vijaya Ghose, Editor of the book, had issued a certificate recognising the largest half-cross-stitch artwork of 2,437.50 feet created by 666 volunteers of TILUNA.

The large tapestry, comprising 1170 pieces (86 cm X 63 cm), featured a panoramic view of the world's tallest temple tower at Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple at Srirangam here.

The total area of the embroidery art measured 6906.25 sq feet and each of the piece contained 82,875 stitches, utilising 720 metres of coloured thread.

The whole exercise began on April 4, 1998, and till October 6, 2007, 1170 pieces were completed by the volunteers located in India and abroad.

Origin Infosys completes TN Govt school project order

Chennai, Dec 27 (UNI) City-based Origin Infosys, a leading IT services and solutions provider, has successfully delivered the single largest order for a Tamil Nadu Government school project, worth Rs 80 crore, from ELCOT for 2006-07. The project envisaged implementation of hardware and networking in more than 2,000 schools in Tamil Nadu. Sugar prices steady on moderate demand

Navi Mumbai, Dec 27 (UNI) Wholesale sugar prices today maintained a a steady trend at Rs 1,430 per quintal on moderate demand by bulk consumers and sweet makers in the face of sufficient stocks, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants' Association said. Following are the spot wholesale rates per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,331/1,390, Medium grade: Rs 1,390/1,475. Ex-mill Small grade: Rs 1,325/1,355 and Medium grade: Rs 1,375/1,450. UNI.....
