DHVBN completes HVDS in 100 villages

Chandigarh, Dec 27 (UNI) The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has completed the work of erection of High Voltage Distribution System (HVDS) or Aerial bunched/Armoured /Shielded Cables Based Distribution System (ABCDS) in 100 villages under its 'Revenue Protection Project'.

A DHBVN spokesman today said the Nigam was laying distribution system of international standard in villages under this prestigious project.

In the villages having more than 300 houses, there would be HVDS while in the villages having up to 300 residential dwellings, there would be ABC based distribution system.

The Nigam had selected 2001 villages for HVDS and 1119 villages for ABC based Distribution System in its area comprising of districts Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Bhiwani, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Mewat, Gurgaon and Faridabad.

Work for erection of HVDS or ABCDS in 963 additional villages was in progress which included 341 villages in district Sirsa, 397 villages in districts Hisar and Fatehabad, 55 villages in Faridabad and 196 villages in districts Mahendragarh and Rewari and 113 villages in district Gurgaon and Mewat.

Under the HVDS, all low tension transmission lines in the villages were being replaced with high tension lines in a way that they were accident free and groups of 15 to 25 consumers were being given connections from one transformer so that sufficient voltage is provided and there was no overloading of transformers.

Power production in VTPS second unit hit

Vijayawada, Dec 27 (UNI) Power production at the second unit of the Vijayawada Thermal Power Station (VTPS), producing 210 MW of power, was disrupted following a minor fire in the unit. However, power production was restored in the afternoon. Talking to UNI here, VTPS Chief Engineer Ratna Kumar said oil leakage on cotton waste in the unit resulted in the fire after electrical sparks fell on it. The VTPS had six units, with each unit producing 210 MW of power......

Standard Chartered to launch reward programme

Mumbai, Dec 27 (UNI) India's largest international bank Standard Chartered Bank will launch a reward programme for its savings account customers using electronic banking channels. Under the programme, the bank will pass back reward points on savings made by the customers using the electronic channels of payments.
